As some of you may have heard, the Australian Government has recently announced the closure of the Medicare Chronic Disease Dental Scheme from 1 December 2012.
Prior to this announcement, Medicare dental items are available for people with chronic conditions and complex care needs, on referral from a GP. Eligible patients can access up to $4,250 in Medicare benefits for dental services over two consecutive calendar years.
If you have a Medicare referral from your GP, or have spoken to your GP about being referred for dental treatment under this scheme, I would suggest to get a move on with treatment before the end of the year!
There has been announcement, of a new dental-medicare scheme which will replace the current plan; however no further details has been made public yet. I shall keep you all posted!
