Fast, Effective Pain Relief & Thorough Care
Priority Appointments
Pain from a toothache can be anywhere from mild discomfort when eating or drinking, up to severe pain around the clock, even when trying to sleep.
When left unchecked, toothaches can often become increasingly painful and develop further complications that ultimately require additional treatment to resolve. The earlier you see us for professional care the better. Our dentists will ensure you get the expert care and treatment you need for lasting pain relief.
You are welcome to book online to see our next available dentist but if your toothache is causing significant pain and you would like urgent attention, please call our friendly team so we can prioritise your appointment.
Whether you’ve had a toothache for a day or a month, our dentists will help identify the cause and provide effective pain relief and treatment.
Whatever the cause, we'll fix it
Common Causes of Toothache
A cavity is a common cause of toothache and pain typically happens once the cavity has reached the dentin. The sooner you visit our dentists the faster, and simpler the treatment.
An infection such as an abscess can cause strong pain and swelling. If you have swelling associated with your pain we highly recommend you call us for an urgent appointment.
It’s possible to have a crack or fracture in a tooth without even realising it. Any exposed soft tissue or nerve ending can result in pain, particularly when eating or drinking.
Same day relief, lasting results
Toothache Treatments
Our clinic offers a range of dental treatments to alleviate the pain of toothache, reduce inflammation, and most importantly, resolve the root cause. Sometimes the cause is immediately obvious but often an x-ray will help fully reveal the extent of treatment required.
If a cavity is the cause of a toothache, we can clean the tooth and provide a filling to restore the damaged area. When there is significant decay or infection in a tooth, a root canal treatment may be required to save the tooth.
Sometimes a cracked or fractured tooth can expose a nerve which in turn causes serious pain when eating or drinking. We offer broken tooth repair treatments such as a crown. Whenever possible, we do our best to preserve your healthy tooth structure and protect it for the future.
What you can do at home
Temporary Toothache Relief
Getting professional care and treatment is crucial to identifying the reason for your toothache and providing appropriate treatment. That said, there are some things you can do to manage pain at home before your appointment:
- Rinse your mouth with warm saltwater
- Apply a cold pack to the cheek near the painful area
- Take over-the-counter pain relief (e.g. Panadol)
Doing the above could help give you temporary relief until one of our dentists can help with a thorough inspection and treatment.
Underwood Dental Care is located at 1 Springwood Rd and we are easily accessible from Logan, Rochedale, Kuraby and surrounding suburbs. We have free parking onsite.
