Ask any of my orthodontic patients, and they’ll tell you that it was well worth the time, effort and money spent in getting their teeth straightened. There are many options now in fixing your teeth… full braces, partial braces, metal braces, porcelain braces, Invisalign clear aligners… the list goes on…

Orthodontic treatment is not all unpleasant. In fact, we think it can also be fun! Not only do we become good friends with our orthodontic patients, but seeing teeth move on a daily basis can be quite satisfying too.

Emergency Department and Dentistry

I stumbled upon a very interesting article about an increasing and worrying trend that is emerging in the United States. That is, that Americans are visiting the emergency room in hospitals more frequently than ever for dental treatment.

I too have seen an increasing number of patients who have been referred from hospitals needing dental treatment.  So how does one’s tooth become so bad that we require admission into the Emergency Department?

Children’s Dentistry

As a new parent, I’m starting to take a greater interest in children’s health and children’s dentistry.

Parents often ask me what age is best to bring their children to see the dentist for the first time. I recommend children begin coming to the practice around the age of 3 years.  For younger siblings they can even come in from 1 year old as they like to be involved in what their elder siblings are doing. We encourage siblings to all come together to their dental visit to be exposed to the dental environment at an early age.
